Reverend Dan Rift, director of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America World Hunger and Disaster Response, has stories from the front lines of disaster relief about faith in action, about people who have something to feel joyful about even in the midst of storms. Reverend Rift talks about the crisis relief and positive changes made by people like you through this constantly active organization. Ascension Lutheran Church in Thousand Oaks, California is a partner in ELCA World Hunger and Disaster Response each year through our Gifts of Hope drive. In recent years, we have focused on hunger relief, malaria eradication, school renovations, electricity provision and more. Now we're gearing up for our new Gifts of Hope. The Biblical underpinning this week happens to be Luke 16:19-31, the parable of the rich man and the beggar named Lazarus. As Pastor Rift points out, "It's hard for us to wiggle out from under this story."
